Abstract

Childhood and adolescence are among the most influential developmental periods for any individual, and enhancing the related tools can pave the way for new understandings of these sensitive phases. This study aimed to identify the factor structure and psychometric properties of the Childhood and Adolescent Emotional Experience Scale. This correlational descriptive research involved individuals present on social networks, from which 201 participants were selected using convenience sampling and responded to the Childhood and Adolescent Emotional Experience Scale and Family Social Support Scale. To determine the reliability of the questionnaire, Cronbach's alpha and split-half methods were used, while construct validity was assessed through correlation and exploratory factor analysis. The obtained data were analyzed using Pearson correlation methods, split-half tests, and exploratory factor analysis. The findings indicated that the Childhood and Adolescent Emotional Experience Scale comprises two factors: Childhood Experience and Adolescent Experience, and Parental Support and Care Experience. A Cronbach's alpha of 0.76 indicates the scale's adequate reliability. Based on the research findings, it can be concluded that this scale has appropriate reliability and validity, yielding cohesive factors that can be applied to examine individuals' emotional experiences during childhood and adolescence, and can be utilized in clinical and research activities.
